JOURNEY RHYTHM
Built around habitats,
early starts and field decisions
This is a birding-first journey. Each day follows a route logic, but the guide adjusts timing, trails and target priorities based on weather, access, bird activity and group pace.
Early starts
Most productive birding sessions begin before or around dawn.
Flexible fieldcraft
Safety, park rules and field quality come before sticking rigidly to the written itinerary.
Habitat progression
The route moves from lowland forest to highlands, dry forest, Central Highland montane forest and coastal forest.
Target review
Each evening helps reset the next day’s focus based on sightings, heard-only birds, missed targets, field conditions.
ITINERARY SNAPSHOT
A 14-day route spine, not a fixed script.
Day 1-3
Ho Chi Minh City → Cat Tien
Begin with southern lowland forest birding, focusing on forest birds, broadbills, woodpeckers, pittas, pheasants and possible primate context.
Day 4-7
Di Linh → Da Lat Plateau
Move from mid-elevation forest into Da Lat highlands for Vietnamese specialties, mixed flocks and cooler montane birding.
Day 8-9
Da Lat → Yok Don → Mang Den
Add a strong dry forest contrast before moving into the Central Highlands. Expect long drives and carefully managed field time.
Day 10-11
Mang Den → Ngoc Linh base
Continue Central Highland birding and prepare for more specialist, remote highland terrain.
DAY 12
Ngoc Linh
Focus on high-elevation birding with careful access, realistic expectations and no sensitive location sharing.
DAYS 13–14
Ngoc Linh → Son Tra/Da Nang
Finish with coastal forest, Red-shanked Douc context and light birding before ending in Da Nang.
The exact order may change depending on weather, access, road conditions, bird activity, park rules and guide judgement.
