Tram Chim NP: Ramsar Site #2000

A braided maze of coconut creeks, lotus marshes and mud-flat coast, the Mekong Delta is where Vietnam’s culture and birdlife flow side by side. We explores a compact loop floating-market Cai Be, Ramsar-listed Tram Chim National Park and shorebird hotspot Tan Thanh beach reachable from Ho Chi Minh City in a day.

More than 350 bird species feed or breed here. In the dry months (January–May) Tram chim’s reed beds turn into a stage for the regal Eastern Sarus Crane, while egrets, darters and Asian Open-billed Storks crowd lotus pools. Out on Tan Thanh’s gleaming mud, waders take over: Spoon-billed Sandpiper, Nordmann’s Greenshank, White-faced Plover and flocks of knots and stints sift for shrimps. Between sessions you sample pomelo honey on an orchard walk, pause at a kaleidoscopic Cao Dai temple, or share tea with farmers who use barn-owl nest-boxes to keep rice fields pesticide-free.

Wild Harmony families choose our 2-Day Mekong Culture & Nature trip for gentle boat rides, while hardcore birders slot the delta into the Fixed-Date 10-Day Bird Photography Tour to nail cranes and shorebirds with a single lens swap. Come dry for easy cruising, come wet for emerald paddies, the delta always hums with life.

  • Bucket-list birds in reach: Spoon-billed Sandpiper, Nordmann’s Greenshank all within a weekend.

  • Culture on the same river: floating pineapple markets, rambutan orchards and shrine drums add colour between hides.

  • Zero hard walking: boats, orchard lanes and dyke tops keep distances stroller-friendly (Wild Harmony core).

  • Live conservation: lotus-rotation paddies, owl boxes and prescribed burns that your tour fee helps fund.

  • Flexible add-on: dovetails with Cat Tien or coastal Son Tra legs; departs any day as Tailor Tour or monthly on our Scheduled crane season departures.
