Ma Da Nature Reserve, located in close proximity to HCMC, is an excellent site for a single day of forest birding. The reserve is home to several passerine species such as the Indochinese Green Magpie, Ashy Woodswallow, Bar-beilled, Blue-rumped Pittas, Siamese Fireback, Germain’s Peacock-Pheasant, Green-billed Malkoha, and a variety of kingfishers and herons.

Our one-day tour starts early in the morning with a pick-up in Sai Gon, followed by a drive of approximately 1.5 hours to reach the nature reserve. Once we arrive, we will spend a full day birding. Day 1: (L D) Your birding tour adventure starts with a pick-up from your hotel or the airport in Ho Chi Minh City. Our experienced guide will welcome you and introduce you to the itinerary for the tour. From here, we will embark on a 2.5-hour drive to Dinh Mout.
Our expert guide will lead you to the best locations to observe and photograph the fascinating birdlife. The evening's accommodation will be at a hotel around Takou mountain, where you'll enjoy dinner.
Day 2: (B L D) Rise early and head out to the mountainous regions to discover the bird species that thrive in the area. BIRDWatching tour at Dalat is designed for you to reach the hotspot for birdwatching in Southeast Asia, placed on the Dalat plateau isolated from Himalaya Mt. and consider the same Peninsular Malaysian highlands. Dalat is the best birdwatching site in Vietnam located in Central highland Vietnam which is 300 km from HCM city. This EBA has the natural evergreen forest and coniferous forest where home for six endemic birds species: Collared Laughingthrush (Garrulax yersini), Orange-breasted Laughingthrush (Garrulax annamensis), Vietnamese Cutia (Cutia legalleni), Grey-crowned (Crocias Crocias langbianis), Black-crowned Fulvetta (Alcippe klossi) and Vietnamese Greenfinch (Carduelis monguilloti). The Dalat Plateau also supports several subspecies including Rufous-backed Sibia (eximia), Black-headed Sibia (robinsoni), Blue-winged Minla (orientalis), Black-throated Sunbird (johnsi), and Red Crossbill (meridionalis). Dalat is a unique terminus of a South-East Asian montane leapfrog area. In addition to the pronounced element of avian endemism found on the Dalat Plateau, Dalat multiple widespread montane SouthEast Asian birds that share their closest vocal or plumage similarities not with adjacent populations in central Vietnam and Laos, but with distant populations, often in Peninsular Malaysia, that are separated by a string of dissimilar populations in between. This evolutionary and biogeographic mode of distribution, in which two similar terminal populations are separated by dissimilar intervening populations, is known as a ‘leapfrog pattern, and has been well-characterised inlinear mountain ranges such as the Andes of South America. Tan Thanh is located in Go Cong district, Tien Giang Province (in Mekong Delta) 80 km far from Saigon which 2 hour-drive. Spoon-billed Sandpiper is one of the most threatened birds on the planet. He breeds on the Chukotsk and Kamchatka peninsulas in the Russian Far East and migrates through Russia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, and China to Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thai Lan, and Vietnam for avoiding freezing winter. This species has declined from an estimated 2,000-2,800 breeding pairs in the 1970s to 1,000 pairs in 2000 to less than 100 pairs in 2011, and in recent years the population has been declining at 26% per year. If this trend continues, the population could be extinct in 5-10 years.
