Vietnam’s uplands and karst peaks cradle 115 + endemic amphibian species, from neon moss frogs to mountain newts found nowhere else. Join our guides into cloud-forest streams and leaf-litter hideaways to meet these true Vietnamese originals

With ≈ 300 recorded species, Vietnam’s anurans range from thumb-sized flying frogs that glide between canopy gaps to cryptic torrent toads clinging to waterfalls. Perfect for macro lenses, casual herpers, and anyone chasing colourful photo trophies.

When darkness falls the jungle turns into surround-sound: tree frogs whistle, torrent frogs click, and leaf-litter toads drum a slow bass line. On our night walks, head-lamps off for a moment—let the amphibian chorus score your Mekong adventure.

A hidden highlight of Vietnam’s amphibian world, salamanders suffer from habitat loss and illegal trade for traditional medicine. Get to know these elusive stream dwellers—because understanding them is the first step toward protecting them.

Vietnam counts 500+ reptile species, and the pace of discovery is still booming—> 100 new reptiles described since 2000, lifting the tally of ~ 160 endemics found nowhere else on Earth. Every forest walk can feel like a first ascent into undiscovered herp country.

Lizards make up almost half of Vietnam’s reptile roster—> 250 species of agamids, geckos, skinks, monitors, and more. Expect horned dragons that glide between trees and rock geckos patterned like forest lichens—perfect for macro lenses and slow-mo video.

With ~ 200 recorded snake species (about one quarter venomous), the country ranges from king cobras and jewel pit-vipers to 22 sleek sea-snake species. Our red-light night walks keep a safe distance.

Vietnam is home to 26 native freshwater turtles and tortoises, two of them endemic, plus the last wild Siamese crocodiles hiding in ‘Bau Sau”. Dawn canoe drifts give quiet, low-impact views of these ancient survivors.
