herping tour in Nui Dinh Mountain is a must-try! Our tour can be customized as a day trip or a multi-day tour and we will be traveling by car to explore various habitats and hotspots. We will be on foot throughout the day and night, searching for reptiles and amphibians.
Why Choose Our Herping Tours in Nui Dinh?
Nui Dinh Mountain is home to over 20 species of snakes alone, not to mention other diverse herpetofauna from the Indochinese and Sunda regions. Our tours offer the opportunity to observe and learn about these fascinating creatures. Additionally, you might even spot some birds along the way.
Itinerary of Herping Tour Near Ho Chi Minh [Day 1 (13:00 to ± midnight)]
Our itinerary for the herping tour in Nui Dinh is flexible, depending on your preferences and how many days you book. Our
experienced guide will plan the tour hour by hour, based on what we have already seen, local conditions, or simply a gut feeling. We will use a car to travel around the park, visit different habitats, and then search for herps on foot. Generally, the terrain is not too demanding, and we prefer to search intensively in several spots rather than hiking long distances on a single trail.
To make the most out of your tour, please let us know in advance if there are specific species you’d like to see. This will allow us to give you the best advice on where to go and adapt the itinerary to increase the chances of success. There are no restaurants on the mountain, so we recommend bringing your own snacks.
Extra Information About This Location
Dinh Mountain is located about 70 km east-west of Ho Chi Minh City and takes about 1.5 hours by car. It can be challenging to reach the area by public transportation, so we suggest
booking our tour, which includes transportation. The area is open year-round, and our herping tours can be scheduled every day of the year as long as our guide is available. We recommend booking in advance to secure your spot.
Regarding the best time of year to visit, we have had successful tours throughout the year. However, the wet season, which is typically from May to October and sometimes extends into November, is the most consistent period for producing good results. While December and January can also be successful, there is a chance of cold nights slowing down the movement of species.
Some of the species that have been recorded in the area include
White-lipped pit viper (Trimeresurus albolabris)
Many-lined sun skink (Eutropis multifasciata)
Four-lined litter skink (Sphenomorphus quadriocellatus)
Common house gecko (Hemidactylus frenatus)
Black-spotted rock frog (Odorrana hosii)
Brown tree frog (Polypedates megacephalus)
Paddy frog (Fejervarya limnocharis)
