Description:

Physical characteristics: Eutropis chapaensis is a species of skink that exhibits typical scincid characteristics, including a sleek body and limbs well-adapted for terrestrial locomotion.

Distribution and habitat:

Elevation: Found at elevations around 1,500 meters above sea level.
Area: Eutropis chapaensis is endemic to northern and central Vietnam. It is recorded from the provinces of Lao Cai (Sa Pa), Dien Bien (Muong Nha), Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, Son La, Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Gia Lai, and Kien Giang (Phu Quoc). Its type locality is Cha Pa (now Sa Pa), Lao Cai Province.
Habitat: This species inhabits subtropical and tropical moist montane forests. It is also found in lowland forests and can adapt to secondary or disturbed forest habitats.

Behaviour and ecology:

Lifestyle: Eutropis chapaensis is a nocturnal and arboreal species, often found in submontane forests. It is well-adapted to forested environments and can be seen in both primary and secondary forests, including disturbed areas.

Reproduction: No specific reproductive information is available for this species, but like other skinks, it is likely to be oviparous.
