Just 3.5 hours from Ho Chi Minh City, the Cat Tien Wildlife Expedition is a 3-day journey designed for nature lovers seeking an immersive wildlife experience in one of Vietnam’s richest lowland tropical forests. This expedition blends birdwatching, primate watching, herping day & night, forest trekking, and ecosystem exploration—all guided by WANEE’s expert wildlife guides.
A key highlight of the tour is the Yellow-cheeked Gibbon Morning Experience, where you can hear and observe this rare primate’s iconic dawn calls. The itinerary also features a full-day trek into Bau Sau (Crocodile Lake)—a Ramsar site home to Siamese Crocodiles, Black-shanked Douc Langurs, Annamese Silvered Langurs, Great Hornbills, and a high diversity of reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, and dragonflies.
This tour runs as a fixed-departure program, 3 departures per month, operating during the prime wildlife season from December to April. Group size is intentionally small—2 to 10 guests—to ensure a personalized and high-quality wildlife experience
07:00 AM – Hotel Pick-up
Depart from Ho Chi Minh City for a 3.5-hour drive to Cat Tien National Park.
Tan Phu Forest Stop
A short stop at Tan Phu Forest, an excellent lowland evergreen habitat with chances to see Flying Lizards, forest skinks, and various woodland birds.
Check-in & Lunch
Arrive at the park, check in at the guesthouse, and enjoy lunch before your first wildlife walk.
Afternoon Trek – Tung Trail
Explore the Tung Trail, one of Cat Tien’s best spots for Bar-bellied Pitta, Orange-breasted Trogon, woodpeckers, and potential encounters with snakes and lizards.
Evening Walk – Around HQ Area
A short night walk near the HQ to search for nocturnal reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals such as Common Palm Civet and Slow Loris (chance-based).
Early Morning – Yellow-cheeked Gibbon Experience
Join a special sunrise session to listen to and observe the Yellow-cheeked Gibbons during their iconic morning calls.
Breakfast at the Guesthouse
Morning Jeep & Trek – Bau Sau (Crocodile Lake)
Take a jeep (9 km) followed by a 5 km trek into the Bau Sau Ramsar site. This area offers excellent chances to see:
Black-shanked Douc Langur
Annamese Silvered Langur
Siamese Crocodile
Great Hornbill
Woolly-necked Stork and Lesser Adjutant
Also a hotspot for butterflies, dragonflies, herps, and forest birds.
Packed Lunch at Bau Sau
Enjoy your lunch at the ranger station overlooking the wetland.
Return Trek & Jeep Back
Walk back to the jeep pick-up point and return to the HQ area by late afternoon.
Evening at Leisure
Time to rest or enjoy optional night spotting around the lodge.
